Cocktail 2 Box Office: Shahid Kapoor Film Near Break-Even
Cocktail 2 closed near ₹166 crore worldwide per Koimoi, about 95 per cent of its reported budget. Pinkvilla and KS Box Office differ.

Cocktail 2, the romantic comedy that opened on June 19, 2026, finished its theatrical run just short of recovering its reported budget, according to Koimoi. Directed by Homi Adajania and starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, it ended as the sixth-highest Bollywood grosser of the year at the time. As with every figure here, these are trade estimates, and the trackers disagree.
The closing numbers
Koimoi's closing report puts the worldwide gross at about ₹166.3 crore: ₹123.3 crore gross in India (₹104.5 crore net) and ₹42.96 crore overseas. Against a reported budget of ₹110 crore, Koimoi says the film recovered about 95 per cent, and its verdict table labels the run Losing.
Pinkvilla's closing report is lower, at about ₹139 crore worldwide. KS Box Office's table called the film a Semi Hit. The two gross figures differ by nearly ₹30 crore, which is a reminder to read each tracker's method before comparing totals.
The opening
The film opened strongly. Koimoi lists an opening-day India net of ₹14.1 crore and an opening weekend of ₹50.1 crore, which places it among the biggest 2026 opening weekends on its list.
The film and the people
Cocktail 2 is produced by Maddock Films and Luv Films. Wikipedia's list of 2026 Hindi films gives the cast as Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. Homi Adajania directs.
Shahid Kapoor told the Times of India that he shot Cocktail 2 at the same time as O'Romeo, his February release with Vishal Bhardwaj. That means two very different films, a mafia-set romantic action drama and a romantic comedy, came out of the same period of shooting.
Shahid's 2026 in numbers
Shahid's two releases of 2026 are easy to compare. O'Romeo opened on February 13 and closed at about ₹123 crore worldwide on Koimoi's count against a reported budget of ₹130 crore, which Koimoi labelled a losing result. Cocktail 2 earned about ₹43 crore more worldwide against a lower reported budget of ₹110 crore. On Koimoi's numbers, both films fell short of their budgets, but Cocktail 2 came closer, at 95 per cent recovery.
What comes next for Shahid
According to the Times of India, Shahid has confirmed Farzi 2. Variety India reported that his next theatrical project is an untitled rom-com with Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma, about a married couple whose souls swap. The film was expected to begin shooting in late 2026 and release in mid-2027. Filmfare reported that claims about him joining another project, Adal Badal, were incorrect.
Reading the verdict
The label attached to Cocktail 2 depends on which tracker is used. Koimoi's Losing and KS Box Office's Semi Hit sit on opposite sides of the break-even line. The usual reasons apply: different gross figures and different budget assumptions.
For a reader who wants a plain summary, the film earned roughly ₹139 crore to ₹166 crore worldwide, cost about ₹110 crore by reported figures, and came within a few per cent of recovering that cost at the higher gross.
Where it sits among 2026 releases
Cocktail 2 arrived one week before Welcome to the Jungle and two weeks after Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, so June 2026 gave audiences three major Hindi comedies and romances in four weeks. Koimoi's closing report ranks Cocktail 2 sixth among Bollywood grossers of the year at the time, ahead of Alpha, which closed at about ₹99 crore worldwide. Since then, Mirzapur: The Movie has moved past it on Koimoi's tables.
