Eetha, the Laxman Utekar film starring Shraddha Kapoor, is now scheduled for release on December 4, 2026. It was originally set for August 28 and was moved. The film is a period drama about a Tamasha and Lavani performer from Maharashtra, and it is one of the more unusual projects on the winter calendar.

The story

According to Wikipedia's page on the film, Shraddha Kapoor plays Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a real Tamasha and Lavani artist from the village of Narayangaon in Maharashtra. Tamasha is a traditional Marathi folk theatre form, and Lavani is a song and dance style associated with it. Vithabai is remembered as one of the best-known performers of that tradition.

The cast and crew

Laxman Utekar directs. Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Anant Joshi and Siddharth Jadhav are listed in the cast. Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations produce. Filming ran from November 2025 to May 2026 in Bhor and Pune, according to the sources reviewed.

The Maddock banner has been active throughout 2026, with Cocktail 2 in June and Prahaar in October, though those have different directors and subjects.

The date change

The move from August 28 to December 4 puts the film into the same winter window as Ramayana: Part 1 on November 5, Yeh Prem Mol Liya on November 27 and King on December 24. We did not find a public statement explaining the shift. The film's makers have not given a reason in the material we reviewed, so we do not offer one.

Shraddha Kapoor's calendar

Shraddha Kapoor's name is attached to a period biographical-style drama here, a change from the romances and horror comedies she is best known for. The promotional material we reviewed has not yet included a full trailer, and no song or release plan beyond the date has been confirmed in the sources we reviewed.

A note on the sources

Some lines on related Wikipedia pages are not sourced to a reliable report, so we have not used them. This article relies only on production details that are consistently reported: the release date, the director, the lead role, the cast, the production companies and the shooting schedule.

The Tamasha tradition

Tamasha is a popular Marathi stage form that combines music, dance and drama, and Lavani is its best-known dance and song style. Films about performers in this tradition have been made before in Marathi, but we have not found a source comparing Eetha to them, so we do not.

What we do not know

We do not know the film's budget. We do not know the runtime. We do not know whether the date will move again. And although Shraddha Kapoor's character is a real historical figure, the film's treatment of her life, including how closely it follows documented events, cannot be assessed until the film is released.

Competing releases

The nearest big Hindi release before Eetha is Yeh Prem Mol Liya, a week earlier. King follows on December 24, three weeks after Eetha. That gives the film a three-week window in which it must find its audience before the year's biggest release arrives.

The bottom line

Eetha has a firm December 4 date, a confirmed lead in Shraddha Kapoor and a confirmed director in Laxman Utekar. The setting, the Tamasha and Lavani tradition of Maharashtra, makes it distinct from the franchise and action releases of 2026. Everything beyond that, from the trailer to the music, is still to come.
